A Look at Microsoft Windows 7 Operating System
Just weeks before the release of Microsoft’s latest addition to the Windows line of Operating Systems, Seven, I got a free pre-release copy accompanied with a genuine license. It was from the MSDN Academic Alliance Developer Center where our school is a member. Given to us was one of Windows 7 flavors, the Professional Edition. I got an x86 (32bit) copy which is perfect for my 2-year-old laptop with specs as follows: 1GB memory, 80GB storage, and an Intel Pentium Dual-core that runs at 1.6 GHz.
Installing it was a snap! It took me less than half an hour to run a fresh install. I didn’t need to have a copy of a single driver because Windows 7 did that dirty job for me (well, it’s really not that dirty at all). The new boot screen, or whatever it’s called, was cooler than the previous ones. Then, it was dull and time seems to pass by as you see a moving ‘thing’ in what looks like a progress bar. But now, four orbs circling to form the Windows’ flag with a glowing effect afterwards, how cool is that? It didn’t just made a fancy out of waiting for the system to boot, it made me feel that it’s faster to boot now (and technically it is, really). Read the rest of this entry…
