A Proposal for Social and Economic Reform

As our final exam in SCL3, we are tasked by our professor to choose at 3 options. One is to make a personal integrated reflection based on the topics we’ve discussed in our subject. Next would be to write a critique on one church document we tackled. And last, to prepare a proposal plan based on SCL to bring about social economic change in the Philippines.I’m not taking down notes in class so the first option would not be good for me. The second would be a less of a burden but it’s not my thing. The latter was more fit for me so I decided to do my paper entitled “A Proposal for Social and Economic Reform” and it goes like this:


The Philippines is one of the predominantly catholic nations in Asia other than East Timor. It boasts diversity not just in ecology but in culture as well. A hundred different dialects are present in this country due to its archipelagic landscape. Filipinos are known around the world for their hospitality and resiliency. UST engineering faculty layoff, a comment from a concerned student

I was saddened by the news that I’ve heard from a friend about some professors leaving the Faculty of Engineering and UST for that matter. She told me that one of our professors just didn’t make it this semester. She asked me to visit a blog post with this address from a concerned student at our faculty so that I can see the issue more clearly and here, I discuss some of the points included in the entry above.

The Thomasian Education System is deeply rooted in tradition. Those deeply rooted in this tradition feel that anything new and radical is a threat to their ways.

Deeply rooted indeed, our university is infamous for our national hero’s disgust over the educational system back when he was still studying here. Though that was way back ages ago, I was surprised to encounter such scenario where my fellow students feel the same way. Read the rest of this entry…
