To start off, I’ve never been to Starbucks. I have never been to any Starbucks shop nor sipped a cup of frap from them. Why is this so? For practical reasons, I wouldn’t spend that much money on coffee. Another reason would be, I’m upset about some people looking at it as a status symbol.

This coffee craze has taken Philippine shores by storm. Almost every corner in the metro has these Starbucks shops, sometimes not even exceeding a mile from each other. I’ve seen people wear shirts that have the Starbucks logo on it. I don’t know what their purpose is but it seems to me that they want to know the world that they’ve been to Starbucks. Some even take pictures on their visit to this coffee shop. In my case, when I’m near a Starbucks outlet, I feel gloomy. I feel that I should never go near that place.
