Would You Care Treat Me to Starbucks?
To start off, I’ve never been to Starbucks. I have never been to any Starbucks shop nor sipped a cup of frap from them. Why is this so? For practical reasons, I wouldn’t spend that much money on coffee. Another reason would be, I’m upset about some people looking at it as a status symbol.
This coffee craze has taken Philippine shores by storm. Almost every corner in the metro has these Starbucks shops, sometimes not even exceeding a mile from each other. I’ve seen people wear shirts that have the Starbucks logo on it. I don’t know what their purpose is but it seems to me that they want to know the world that they’ve been to Starbucks. Some even take pictures on their visit to this coffee shop. In my case, when I’m near a Starbucks outlet, I feel gloomy. I feel that I should never go near that place. I’m not being anti-social but I’m annoyed when people spend all their money on crap. This is what making our society more rotten than ever. Filipinos has always venerated these material things. Most of us spend on things that are on trend even though it doesn’t fit our lifestyle.
One of the things that we must learn is that we shouldn’t spend more than what we earn. It doesn’t mean that if everybody has it, we should have it too. We must balance our lifestyle in a way that the things we have are in line. It’s stupid to have an iPhone if you don’t even have a house, isn’t it?

Hindi naman lahat ng nasa Starbucks pasosyal. Ganyan din tingin ko dati nung bago-bago pa ang SB. Pero nung na-try ko na sya okay naman pala kape dun. Yung kape lang ha? Walang kwenta pastries nila.
Yung pagkuha ng pics sa SB eh okay lang naman. When me and my friends hangout, of course we have to take pics. Gagawin namin yun kahit nasa kapihan lang kami sa kanto. Haha!
Marami nga social climbers sa mga cafes pero wag naman natin i-generalize.
