Watching the same movie twice in one afternoon: another thing on my reasons-why-i-am-stupid list
Is it stupid to watch the same movie over and over again? Or else, is it more stupid to watch it twice on the same day and in a span of one afternoon? I guess you’ll say, “Who’s stupid enough to watch the same movie in the span of one afternoon?” Well, I hope you have a hint now that someone is trying to write one of the many embarrassing moments in his life.
My decision to watch a movie as a treat for myself two days after my 18th birthday is as quick as my enrolment for this coming semester (it turned out to be different this year because the previous enrolments that I’ve been through since college was a bit frustrating). I’ve always wanted to watch Tom Hank’s latest movie from Dan Brown’s bestselling novel, Angels and Demons. Despite the fact that I haven’t read a single book from the author, I’m a fan of such movie genre and I liked how the movie The Da Vinci Code was produced (though some folks who read the book say the opposite). I rode a jeepney from our school to TriNoma (a mall near another mall along EDSA) where I usually watch movies. Then after arriving there, I went straight to the 4th level where the cinema is located and bought the ticket for the movie and I was glad that the next showing was just 30 minutes away, at the strike of twelve noon, because more often than not, I find myself counting hours for the next show time. But before anything else, I haven’t eaten breakfast yet so I was certain to buy food that I’ll eat inside the cinema. I bought some nachos and an ice tea which cost about 185 pesos (that price was too much for me but everything else was double the price). Then I went inside the theater and looked for my assigned seat. After some time, the movie began and I was immediately hooked to the scenes that seemed realistic (the Pontiff’s death, the Conclave and stuff).
Following the 1st half of the film (I only guessed it was the half of it), I suddenly felt something. Something that I always felt in places that are air-conditioned and in situations that I drank almost a liter of liquid. I think I was born with a small urine-pouch (I hate jargons, especially in biology) and always thought, why does it have to be me? I waited a little longer because I don’t want to miss a thing! Still, I can’t resist the call of nature so I quickly left the place and straight to the comfort room. Although there is a cinema policy that anyone who goes outside for something, while a movie is still going on, can have the option to go back by just allowing the ‘operator’ (I have no idea what people call someone in front of the theater entrance getting all the tickets) to put a stamp into your arm (it’s purple most of the time), but I made up my mind not to because I missed the climax of the movie (again, I still guessed here, and I was right after watching it again for the second time), and it’s a bit embarrassing (and stupid) to buy another ticket. I quickly left the mall and went straight to the other mall beside the mall that I’ve been through (can you still follow? LOL).
The name of the mall is SM North EDSA and while approaching towards the entrance, I was deeply troubled and confused about what to do next. I’m concerned that I don’t know what happened to the movie and that sucks, isn’t it? So once again, I decided to buy another movie ticket. The price was twenty pesos less than the price of the movie ticket in the other mall and cinema rules here are not strict as the other. There’s no schedule whatsoever for the show time. It just rolls out for a day (or at least during mall hours) and you can go, watch a movie and stay there as you please (and if you still can because in my case, I can’t stand watching the same movie more than thrice on the same day). As I went inside the cinema, I saw that the film has already started and it is bit far from the beginning, fortunately, those scenes where the ones I already watched in the other cinema. I had a hard time looking for a seat because it was too dark but still, I managed to notice that only a few number of audience are watching the film, maybe because it has been a month since its showing here in the Philippines.
As the story moved along the scenes that I missed and up to the end, I was really glad with my decision to watch it. Anyhow, if I didn’t, I would be bothered the whole night (or maybe up to the next day) on what happened to the story. And also, I learned another thing in life that as days pass by, I become more and more stupid. But kidding aside, I really don’t regret anything that I do and looking on the brighter side, in my own little way, I helped boost Philippine economy by raising consumer spending!
